good news if you had wanted to keep your State Farm policy: the state reached an agreement with State Farm yesterday which allows them to remain in Florida, and only raise their rates 14%. Unfortunately, State Farm was not allowed to raise rates as much as they needed to, so instead they will be dropping many policies in the most risky counties (likely those coastal counties in south Florida). Again unfortunately, Citizens insurance, who took over a lot of State Farm policies as agents talked people into switching when it was thought State Farm was leaving Florida, has also just announced a rate increase.
