Orlando-based RedCoach adds Tallahassee bus service Published in the Tallahassee Democrat? September 14. 2010 FSU student Roxanne Drevensek was looking to make a quick weekend trip down to Orlando and back. She found a round-trip fare of $50 on a new bus service making trips between Tallahassee and South Florida, and north to Atlanta. ?? Orlando-based RedCoach Inc. has gotten students' attention. While Drevensek worked on her laptop computer Friday afternoon, other students stepped up to check suitcases and hop aboard at the parking lot across from campus on West Tennessee Street. ??? Drevensek heard from a friend about RedCoach and the fare was less than a typical bus ticket. "This is way better," she said, comparing the competing price. "It was almost $80, so this was cheaper." ?? RedCoach is operating nine luxury Prevost coaches with 27 oversized "business class" seats, 110-volt AC power outlets, free WiFi and LCD monitors overhead. ?? "Seeing a bus like this is amazing. I think it's going to be a lot better ride," said Ariel Backer, who was going to Gainesville and using the time en route to do homework. ?? Greyhound's comparable upgraded service is only available on six routes in the Northeast. They serve Washington, New York, Boston, Montreal and Toronto. ?? Kim Hinton, account manager for RedCoach Inc., said the ability to travel and still be productive will appeal to the business market as well. Tampa service will be added soon. ?? The one-way RedCoach fare from Tallahassee to Orlando, departing Fridays, is $25 and the trip is 5 hours, 15 minutes. Greyhound's price for the same trip is $59 one way, or $51.92 if the ticket is purchased on the Internet. The travel time is 5 hours, 35 minutes.
