I got this from a friend who cares about equal access. Please get the word out about lack of access for people who are blind and deaf. Only the sighted and hearing can use some new sites being provided by the Department of Health. The management does not care. We have a law but no one to ensure accessiblity so state agencies are starting to ignore the law totally. Message starts here: State agencies are required by Florida Statute [F.S. 282.601 - 282.606] to provide web based electronic information in an accessible format for any web content developed or purchased after June 1, 2006. But instead The Florida Department of Health spends thousands building inaccessible flash based websites without the slightest thought about equal access for users of assistive technology. If these sites were truly built for the public then they would be available to all citizens of Florida... http://stopthespread.com/ -- http://faceitflorida.com/ -- http://teentruth.org/ -- http://www.wemakethechange.com/ Please let the Governor, the Secretary of Health, and the Attorney General know how you feel about The Florida Department of Health ignoring you and ignoring the law. Email them and demand that Florida Statutes be obeyed and accessibility be provided for EVERY website! Make a difference by speaking out! Contact everyone on this list. Equal access is your legal right and state agencies are required by law to be accessible!!! Feel free to threaten an ADA lawsuit! Voice your frustration and leave no question about how you feel!
