Just read in the Tallahassee Democrat

an approved $7.2-million budget "to help build retail space, put on downtown
and south side special events and complete street infrastructure next year."
While many people will ultimately benefit from these plans, I wonder: What
does it take to build covered bus shelters for those citizens who rely on
public transportation to get to work, to school and their medical
appointments?
Commissioners, have you not seen the elderly, the infirm, mothers with their
babies, students and workers standing in the blazing sun, enduring the cold
winter winds and penetrating rain with little more than an umbrella for
protection?
Can't we do better with our tax dollars for those who depend on public
transportation?
