[studiorecorder] troubleshooting

I previously recorded a document with Studio Recorder on my laptop; the
document recorded beautifully. A few days later, I plugged the mic in again,
tried to record by pressing F6, and got nothing but blank space. I made sure
the left and right mic jacks were plugged in correctly, and that the mic
switch was set to "on". Anything else I can try?
