The closing date for payment of sailing club fees was the end of last month.
This seems fundamentally unfair to me. I have no desire to join the sailing
club twice.

Rowing Club affiliation fee using a formula that meant family membership of
the Sailing Club proved to be a financially advantageous way of securing
Rowing Club membership for couples and families. This will not be the case

The Rowing Club Committee received a draft affiliation document from the
Sailing Club this week. The terms of the proposed agreement include a "block"
fee to be levied on the Rowing Club. This fee depends neither on Rowing Club
membership numbers nor on the "Sailing Club Member/not" status of Rowing Club
members.
The Rowing Club Committee is in the process of clarifying several of the
terms of the affiliation agreement, but we wanted to alert you to the fact
that your purchase of Sailing Club membership for the coming year will not
lower our Sailing Club "bill". Therefore, Rowing Club membership fees for
the coming year will be the same for our members who are and are not Sailing
Club members.
I am sorry that the Committee has not yet been able to set fees for the
coming year, but the Sailing Club draft affiliation document was only
received a few days ago, and the Committee will need several of its terms to
be clarified before we can estimate the costs for running the Club in the
coming year.
Members affected by the information in this message could, perhaps, ask the
Sailing Club for extra time before deciding on whether to renew their Sailing
Club membership, or ask the Sailing Club treasurer not to bank their cheques
yet. This really only applies to rowers who kept up Sailing Club membership
solely in order to obtain cheaper access to the Rowing Club last year.
