RG,
Actually that is the reason why I understand cultural differences.
When ringos move to Costa Rica they experience a well known phenomena called
"culture shock". That's because people of different cultures act and think
differently and have different values.
It has not only been very difficult for me to adapt to the "Tico" culture but I
don't believe that I will ever be able to fully adapt to the culture and become
a Tico myself because. I don't want to change and neither would I want my kids
to change either.
Tico culture is exceptional in some ways to American culture. For example they
not only do not fight wars they don't even have an army. They are also the most
tolerate people in the world. "Racism" isn't even in their vocabulary (except
when it comes to people from Nicaragua). But along with that attitude comes a
lot of other qualities that I deplore. They are almost never on time. They are
unreliable. They cannot be trusted, etc..
I am well traveled enough and smart enough to know that I am a foreigner and
must accept and adapt to their culture whether I agree with it or not. The
truth is that many if not most Americans are always complaining about the Tico
culture and most of the Americans that move here eventually return to the USA
for that reason.

Me too. Have you started a Stormfront chapter in Costa Rica?
I would think with all the USAers in CS there must be some White Pride
types.
