Subject: The Communist Party USA is part of making America great
Everyone
As an old time USA communist member before the cold war and Joe McCarthy
which resulted in crushing the party down to a tiny party, there are a few
things
I would like to point out.
In the twenties to about the seventies when the cold war started the communist
party was respected by all, having it's own Daily and Sunday Worker newspaper
sold on news stands, authors, prominent and not so prominent people were
members,
membership cards were issued and shown with pride, public lectures,
participants in
May Day parades with Unions and marching bands, public invited entertainment
affairs, membership drives was continuously going on openly without screening
so an
FBI agent would have no problem joining, professors held classes in reputable
colleges, etc. The usual discussions in our newspapers and at meetings I
personally
attended was how to organize unions, make them stronger, fight for negro
rights, against
lynching when this was not a popular issue as now, improve and eliminate the
lot of the
poor and of course why socialism/communism is better and legal and in fact
never
outlawed or banned from running for office including running for President of
the USA
which it did several times.Of late Senator Bernie Sanders, an independent
Democrat
Jewish Socialist came in second after Hillary and quite a few think he would of
made
President running against crazy Donald Trump who I am thinking of voting for?
As the cold war progressed and the news media supported the anti communist witch
hunts, (for protection we burned our membership cards) the cold war against the
USSR,
invading Vietnam, Korea, etc the party shrank and could not afford the Daily
and Sunday
Worker and was shut down and created the weekly People's World which eventually
was
also shut down and they switched to the low cost internet to express their
legitimate, legal
views.
During the communist party hey day we considered our selves as the Vanguard
Party in
that we were first in organizing Unions and a good many of it's leaders were
also
members of the Communist party and in fact the 2 brothers, Murray and Jack
Winnacur
President and Vice President Marine Division (Radio Operators) of the American
Communications Union were members of the communist party, fighting for Negro
and civil
rights, exposing the excesses of capitalism, for jobs, against outsourcing and
rust belting,
for affordable good housing, not getting into wars in other countries
legitimate internal affairs.
In my humble opinion like it or not the Communist/Socialists Party is a good
part of American
history.
