Courts are so corrupt that you have zero chance of going against them. They
even edit transcripts and claim that it's legal to do so. Unless I have a
lawyer that plays golf with the judge I stay as far away from court in the U.S.
as I can. If you believe they are there to serve justice then you are just
setting yourself up for a very unpleasant surprise.

The recordings in question are recordings produced by the court and
altered by the court using the court's equipment.
I've talked to the second fellow and although he's bright, he doesn't
like the idea of going against the court. Also his information on his

The spectrogram will show the full frequency spectrum with warmer or
colder colors representing the strength of that frequency. The noise
floor can be seen very clearly in this view, helping to identify
breaks in the sound. All recordings have some noise floor, even if
they are almost inaudible. When viewing the spectrogram, any breaks in
the noise floor may be signs of an edit. Changes in the volume of the
noise floor can also be a sign of an edit.
Which is wrong if he wants to be truthful. If words are simply
removed, there is no way to detect a digital edit without an embedded
time code. When i pressed Ed about jAVS having or not having an
embedded time code, he wouldn't answer and made something up about how
he had to get off the phone right away.
I worked in audio engineering and broadcasting before I went to sea.
If it is just a digital splice, you take a cut at the peak of the
sine wave and clip there - and join at the same peak - and the cut is
click less and has the same noise floor.
I just don't know for sure that JAVS has no embedded time code.
It is possible to change file times with forensic utilities - I have
two ways of doing this at my disposal.
i can change any file to any date any time.
if the court uses the original recorder, it can produce the same
signature. If they just remove 30 seconds in a 10 minute recording
you can stretch the audio 30 seconds easily and you will not be able
to detect anything as the shifting software keeps the pitch identical
to the original and just slows it down - so changing 9 minutes 30
seconds to 10 minutes of audio will not produce any tempo change you
can hear. Splice the audio back onto a running recorder which is set
up with the time and date programmed into it, or if it is more
sophisticated, run a time server on a local area network with the
original time and you have altered the recording in a way that cannot
be detected.
