2015: The Year in Science
Today's site, from Nature's News and Comment division, offers a look at the
most significant science events of the past year. Gentle Subscribers will
discover not only esoteric scientific research but riveting accounts of issues
which affect ordinary people.

Although much of Nature's content is subscriber only, this special publication
provides free access for most of its material. Among its features are articles
on ten scientists who made a major contribution to their disciplines under the
Nature's 10 tab, while The Year in Science zeros in on a number of the best and
most gripping stories of the past year. Included in this section is a detailed
account of research into the enormous increase in short-sightedness and the
promising research into its cause, fascinating possibilities in aging studies,
and new technology in controversial genetic editing. On the lighter side are 10
cartoons summing up the year in science, along with the most spectacular images
of 2015, from the beauty of the Large Magellanic Cloud galaxy to the startling
microscopic image of a boll weevil's head.
