The Edge Annual Question -- 2010

Today's site, from the Edge Foundation, offers the perennially challenging Edge
Question. Gentle Subscribers, who enjoy witnessing a bit of high flown
intellectual
activity, may find this year's question of great interest.

"Read any newspaper or magazine and you will notice the many flavors of the one
big
question that everyone is asking today. ... To arrive at the edge of the world's
knowledge, seek out the most complex and sophisticated minds, put them in a room
together, and have them ask each other the questions they are asking
themselves." -
from the website

This year, the participants in the Annual Edge Question have been asked to
consider, "How is the internet changing the way you think?" Visitors wondering
where to begin can "Click here to go directly to the responses" link which will
bring them to a convenient list of all the contributors, with a bit of
information
about each and the titles of their answers. More than 150 respected thinkers
from
around the world have responded to the query, producing a document of 130,000
words. With Nobel laureates, artists, engineers, philosophers, and other
impressively talented minds considering the question, the results provide a
number
of striking and thought-provoking passages, with intriguing titles such as "it's
not what you know, it's what you can find out" and "evolving a global brain".

Wheel over to the site for some high-powered answers from the "chattering
classes"
