        Summer Safety Tips

Today's excellent site from the American Red Cross provides essential
safety advice for a range of summer activities and climate conditions.
Gentle Subscribers will find this a first-rate source for refreshing their
knowledge on preventing injury and illness during the carefree summer
months.

"School's out, pools are open and people across the country are looking for
fun ways to cool down as summer temperatures heat up. As you head to the
beach, to the pool, or to the mountains for a camping vacation, the
American Red Cross encourages you and your family to keep safety in mind!"
- from the website

The site features safety tips for water activities in general and specific
recreations such as windsurfing, water-skiing, diving or simply lazing on
the beach, among others. Lakes, rivers and oceans have cautions for their
particular environments. Separate sections on sun safety, with an emphasis
on the prevention of heat-related illnesses, as well as one with advice for
hiking and camping enthusiasts are featured. Apart from this practical
advice, there are a number of interactive quizzes; the one on lightning is
particularly illuminating.
