Inside Abbey Road
Today's site offers an interactive collaboration between Google and Abbey Road
Studios. Gentle Subscribers, who can transcend the highhanded pronouncement
about requiring the very latest in browser technology to view the site, will
discover a whizzbang effort to engage, inform, and entertain visitors about
this legendary recording studio still in use by the world's top performers
today.
"Google has opened the doors to Abbey Road Studios! Explore, discover and play
inside the iconic British recording studio. ... The aim is to enable anyone in
the world to follow in the footsteps of musical legends, and step inside the
famous British recording studio as it's never been seen before. Once inside,
you can explore every nook and cranny of the three recording studios, and
discover stories, images, videos and music spanning the decades." - from the
website
Vivid photography, lively sound, and striking 3D scanning combine to produce a
multi-layered and dazzling presentation. Taking one of the guided studio tours
is an easy way to explore the virtual surroundings while suggestions from the
presenters provide various avenues calling for a closer look. Navigation menus
can be found in the upper right of the screen. With videos of sessions ranging
from the London Symphony Orchestra to the recording of Adele's "Skyfall" track
for the James Bond movie, the production caters to diverse preferences.
Historical photos from The Beatles to Edward Elgar are also available.
