Health Data and IT
Today's site from the non-profit Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, offers
extensive information on how collected health data can be used to benefit the
health of individuals as well as the larger community. Gentle Subscribers will
discover the efforts being made to integrate that data into workable programs
designed to revitalize health outcomes.
"A collection of programs, perspectives, and research on how to collect, share,
and learn from health data and use it to improve personal and population health
... that individuals and the communities we live in will be better off --
regarding health outcomes, health care cost, health disparities, corporate
productivity, and individual quality of life -- if health care providers, the
public health system, and social services are better connected to each other
and to the communities in which patients live." - from the website
This comprehensive site highlights features such as a Culture of Health,
explaining in depth, information on essential topics through its expandable
infographic Action Framework and showcasing real world outcomes based on the
program in Stories from the Field, from Riverside County, California to Kansas
City, Missouri. Additional programs include DASH -- Data Across Sectors for
Health, and Patients Like Me, each with details on how these initiatives can be
used to improve health. Further sections include dozens of articles which can
be searched by keyword or browsed by Topic, Content, and Demographics, while
the RWJF DataHub, for example, provides accessible health information on a
national level as well as on a state by state basis and can be refined within
specific categories.
