Today's site, a project of the non-profit  Environmental Information Coalition
organization, composed of leading scientists from a number of prominent
universities and U.S. government agencies, offers an excellent resource for
authoritative and scholarly scientific information about earth-related topics.
Gentle Subscribers may find this reference a useful and reliable source for
material on issues which are germane to earth science concerns.

natural
environments, and their interaction with society. The Encyclopedia is a free, 
fully
searchable collection of articles written by scholars, professionals, educators,

engineering, and the physical and life sciences. The site is searchable and
browsable, with alphabetically listed broad topics further subdivided into 
specific
subjects, while the home page highlights articles on a variety of interesting
topics, currently featuring a look at the pioneering work of Rachel Carson.
