I used to have gentoo and Mac OS 9 on the same HFS+ partition of my iMac G3 for
a while (I tried with Gentoo to avoid dealing with installers…).
Eventually I switched to a more standard configuration: HFS+ didn't seem very
reliable back then (beginning of 2007…), fsck often had to repair "errors"…
Mac OS 9 doesn't do anything "strange" to open firmware.
