I'm up the stump. I have a commission with not too much time. I have to
write a contemporary piece for a baroque ensemble, including harpsichord. I
want to take advantage of the capabilities of that instrument, including the
use of multiple keybords or manuals, special effects like the lute effect,
use of multiple registers for dynamic reasons, the use of "jacks" to retain
sound, etc. etc. Can someone describe me or point somewhere where I can get
information about scoring for this instrument? I know the instrument has had
a resurgence because of its timbral pallet that is quite rich, including in
the music of Maurice Ohana which I like.
