Alison,

1. Select the last note or rest in the last bar of the first exercise.
2. Now create a bar line by going to Create > Bar line > Final bar line.
3. The bar line will be added to the left of the note that was selected,
i.e. at the end of the bar.
4. The bar line will be selected. Do not move away from it because you need
the bar line to be select in order to create the system break.
5. Now create the system break by going to Layout > Breaks > System break.

The bar which comes after the bar line and system break will now be on the
left side of the page at the start of a new system.

You can choose any type of bar line you like in step 2 but final bar lines
are best in these kinds of situations because they make it clear that the
music has finished. Double bar lines are normally only used to mark the
start of new sections or key changes.

Hope this helps,

Dan Rugman

Subject: [sib-access] Sorry. Need help with writing small exercises. Lost
emails explaining it.

Hello, List,
I do understand that this topic has been explained before at some stage, but
I can't find the answers that were given so please do bear with me.

I wish to write some very simple sightreading exercises, each one to start
on a new stave. Please could someone explain how this can be achieved?

It's good to be back writing to the list again.

Kind Regards,

Alison Trelfa.
