You can change the instrument's name, as well as its sound, by going to the
House Styles menu, and in there, go to Edit Instruments. In there, you can
either edit the instrument you want to change, or make a new instrument
based on the one that's there. For example, you said that what you have is a
Synthesizer? What you can do is, within the Edit Instruments dialogue box,
go to the Keyboards instrument family, go to the instrument named
Synthesizer, and press Alt+N for New Instrument. When it asks whether you're
sure you want to create a new instrument based on the existing one, press
Alt+Y for yes. Then from there, a dialogue box appears for the new
instrument. Fill in the fields with whatever you want to call the new
instrument, then press Alt+O to choose the sound. When you're done there,
press the OK button. Then in the Edit Instruments Dialogue, press the Close
Button. I hope this helps.
