Hi Dmitry
You can find a good account of Braille and its predecessors on the document
page of the Music4VIP web site:
http://www.music4vip.eu/documents
From this page you can download a pdf file of the document called The State of
the Art.
d2-1state_of_the_art-mus4vip.pdf
The document starts with information about the Music4VIP project itself. The
historical account begins at Chapter 2 with an account of Relief Writing.
Best wishes
Jonathan Darnborough

Subject: [sib-access] Off Topic info on braille
Hello!
I am looking for information on Braille in its hystorical aspect. How did
Louis Braille invented this, were there any predecessors, how the system
has changed in the course of time and so on. I am also interested in
getting such information about the creating and developing of music
Braille and Braille in arabic countries and China. Information in German
or other european languages is also welcomed but, of course, english
materials are the best option.
Many thanks in advance and have a nice day.
Dmitry
