Dear Dave I apologize for the confusion. You are right of course. So once more and this time correct: The ribbon menu of Sibelius 7 is much better than the one of Office. You can't go lost in Sibelius7. Claudio, I understand what you reported, and that's good to hear. However you may have confused some of our readers. The "Virtual Ribbon" is a term used by Freedom Scientific for their JAWS 12 capability to render the standard ribbon to a format similar to the old menus. Using the word "virtual ribbon" does not apply to off-the-shelf products like Office 2007, Office 2010, and Sibelius 7. Those are simply ribbons. But I'll try to remedy that situation. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Claudio Sacco" <cl.sacco@xxxxxxxx> To: <sib-access@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2011 10:56 Subject: [sib-access] Re: [Bulk] sib7 help? Dave, The virtual ribbon of Sibelius 7 works much better with Jaws12 than the Microsoft one. Better structure, better explained and you don't get lost in the menu. And all this, without turning the virtual menu of Jaws on, which by the way is more bad than very util. Steve, Good information. JAWS 12 now has a "virtual ribbon" feature that renders the Office 2007 and 2010 ribbons into more menu-like structures. Do you know if JAWS 12 works with Sibelius 7 in the same manner? This may be a Freedom Scientific question, but then I doubt that FS has any testers who keep a latest copy of Sibelius on hand for that purpose. Hi John In theory Sib 7 should run fine on Vista. What you may be encountering is that we have removed the menu, so alt + h won't give you quite what you want. Instead, the help and other options are on the backstage, the ribbon tab named "File". You can access this via alt then F (not the two together), then H to open the help page (or you can navigate through the backstage choices with the up and down arrows). Once the help page is open, if you are still using the key tips you can type SR to get the reference guide, or navigate through the options with the arrow or tab key - so in summary from the start that's Alt then F then H then SR. Once you use the tab or arrow keys, the key tips won't respond again until you reactive them using alt. For me on a bog standard Windows 7 machine, F1 does bring up the help guide, so that may be an issue local to your machine. Hope that helps, Steve -----Original Message----- From: sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Farfar on Laptop Sent: 18 August 2011 01:55 To: sib-access@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [sib-access] Re: [Bulk] sib7 help? Hi Dave and gang, I'm back with trying to get help on a mac running a vista partition on which is sib7. When I press alt h I just get a ding. f1 does not bring up the sibelius reference as it ordinarily would. When I press alt I do get the ribbon, but nowhere there does there appear to be anything about file management or help. The closest I get to file management is control o for open. js If you wish to unsubscribe, send a blank message with the single word, unsubscribe - in the Subject line to: sib-access-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx If you wish to unsubscribe, send a blank message with the single word, unsubscribe - in the Subject line to: sib-access-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx If you wish to unsubscribe, send a blank message with the single word, unsubscribe - in the Subject line to: sib-access-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx If you wish to unsubscribe, send a blank message with the single word, unsubscribe - in the Subject line to: sib-access-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx If you wish to unsubscribe, send a blank message with the single word, unsubscribe - in the Subject line to: sib-access-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx If you wish to unsubscribe, send a blank message with the single word, unsubscribe - in the Subject line to: sib-access-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx If you wish to unsubscribe, send a blank message with the single word, unsubscribe - in the Subject line to: sib-access-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx If you wish to unsubscribe, send a blank message with the single word, unsubscribe - in the Subject line to: sib-access-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx If you wish to unsubscribe, send a blank message with the single word, unsubscribe - in the Subject line to: sib-access-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
