Good news! Look forward to the Sib 6 scripts. I?ve been busy moving the music access site to a new host provider and it?s been causing more problems than I anticipated; not least of which is the temporary loss of email. The site has been given something of a makeover. There are still more changes to make but the new design makes it easy for me to post frequent updates to the site. There?s already a review of Sibelius 7 and I?ll shortly be posting updates relating to Sibelius Access - it?s going to be a busy couple of months. It may take a few days for everyone to be able to reach the new site. The URL is the same, and UK residents should already have the updated pages, but it may take a while for the new server details to propagate overseas. At the moment I?m in the rather confusing position of emails going to two different servers, so you?ll have to bear with me whilst I sort through things, but everything should settle down towards the end of the week. Regarding Sibelius 7. As I said, there?s a review on the new site http://www.musicaccess.co.uk/2011/07/sibelius-7-review/ If you can?t reach the above link, be patient, it should start working soon. The review covers most of the important points, but I?ll be posting more information over the next month about how to get around in this rather different looking Sibelius. I?d also like to extend my thanks to Steven Penny for fielding questions, not to mention all the folks at Sibelius for the work they?ve done on this latest version. There are a couple of points I?ll address here since some of you may not be able to reach the new site yet. There will be a release of Sibelius Access for Sibelius 6 next week. There are still some users who will need access to this older version, especially those who are bound by Windows XP, can?t afford the upgrade, or who can?t persuade those who control their computer systems to let them upgrade. There?s also the fact that Sibelius 6 is now extremely accessible, and some of the more advanced features which have not yet been made accessible in Sibelius 7 will only be available through the previous version. I already have some code for Sibelius 7 which I had to write in order to properly explore the new interface, and I hope to release an emergency JAWS fix for that version towards the end of the month, but the full support for Sibelius 7 will not be available until sometime in September. It?s worth mentioning that Sibelius Access 6 contains a lot of advanced features for navigating in the score, and a lot of very detailed descriptions of items not previously supported, and that these new features were designed with the need to make the upgrade to Sibelius 7 in mind. There?s also been a lot of work done to ensure that non-English languages can be more easily supported. Finally, you should all keep an eye on the music access site because there will be quite a lot happening over there soon.
