Not knowing much about those DSL chips, but having experience with not being able to get DSL service at home because of the distance limitations of about 18000 feet 3.4 miles (about 5.5 km) I wonder whether Wang will be able to use these chips for a 7 km design... There is a miriad of those from Infineon, Connexant etc. They offer a lot of development support. 2) see 1) 3) Simulation: ETSI regulations ( DSL: ITU G.992 G.991 and others ) give information about 7 different telecom cable types with their impedance over frequency and also stray parameters ( R',L,C'). 4) see 1) On a US web site there is also a noise calculator for telecom cable occupied with POTS / ISDN / DSL technologies to estimate noise level and therefore BER ( Lets see if I find the link, it is already some years ago ).
