Tesla,
I apologize for the abruptness of my previous resonse, nor do I want to
deter you from your interest in electromagnetics. However, it appears to me
that you have a pirated copy of HFSS, which I do not condone. That, and my
not having had my first cup of coffee, led to the tone of my first response.
The answers to the questions that you are asking cannot be understood with a
year of undergraduate level Emag. It requires another year of courses at
the graduate level, and then you can answer them yourself. I recommend that
you do that.
Even with an adeqate educational background, HFSS can be...elusive. That is
what the FAE's are for. If you do indeed have a registerd copy of the
software, your first approach for these functional type of questions should
be to contact Ansoft, not the List.

Ken

Subject: [SI-LIST] Why discontinuity must be far away Wave Port
excitation?

Hi, experts
In an application note of Ansoft hfss, it said geometrical discontinuity
must be far away Wave Port. I think High-order modes due to discontinuity
may affect the E and H field distribution leading to a wrong S-parameter.
But Ansoft said Lumped Port can be used in this situation. but i think the E
and H field of high-order modes also affect the current and voltage of
"Lumped Port". so i assume it also lead to a wrong result.
Thanks and Best Regards.
