QUALCOMM Inc. currently has an opening for a Signal Integrity Engineer at our Headquarters in San Diego, CA. The candidate will work in a team oriented environment to provide electrical design expertise in the areas of signal integrity and power distribution, primarily for the development of Printed Circuit Board designs for CDMA based development systems. This engineer must interface with digital board designers, IC designers, packaging engineers, applications engineers, test engineers, and reference platform design teams. Working effectively across organizational boundaries is essential as is the effective presentation and documentation of results. The person is expected to proactively seek ways to optimize designs, streamline and validate signal and power integrity modeling and simulation methodologies, and maintain an expert level of knowledge of relevant EDA software tools. The position offers the opportunity to design test boards and use high frequency measurement equipment to validate various models and simulations. Skills/Experience Required: - 5 years of experience in the field of signal integrity and/or high speed electrical design, including an understanding of the underlying theory. - Excellent teamwork skills. - Understanding of, and experience with, VNA or TDR based frequency measurements is highly preferred. - Experience with at least one of the primary vendor SI analysis tools is expected. - Excellent oral and written communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken American English. - Working knowledge of PCB fabrication, IC package technology, and industry packaging and interconnection trends. Additional Skills: - Experience designing with high IO count FPGA components, DDR or QDR memories, and high speed ser-des links such as RapidIO, XAUI, and XFI. - Ability to condense complex simulation results into concise models and design guidelines. - Experience with SPICE and IBIS modeling. - Experience with analyzing and optimizing power distribution systems including the contributions of boards, packages, and chips. - Familiarity or experience with Mentor or Cadence design tools - Experience with MATLAB tools - Programming skills in Perl, C, C++, or similar languages - Experience using spreadsheets and similar analysis tools - Knowledge of PCB design flows.
