Senior Hardware Design Applications Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Hardware Applications Engineer to
lead development of board level reference designs that implement our
H.264 codec chips.  This position will report to the Applications
Engineering group.

Job Description: 
The primary focus of this position will be hands-on development of
board level reference designs based on our leading-edge H.264 codec
chips.


Responsibilities:

· Lead technical planning, and definition, of reference designs
  working closely with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering
· Select, negotiate, and manage outside vendors related to  
  manufacturing of reference designs
· Create training and technical user documentation related to 
  reference designs (manuals, presentations, app notes, etc.)
· Directly support internal Field Applications Engineers
· Directly support customers during bring-up and/or transition to
  manufacturing. Some (<10%) travel required.

Requirements:
This position requires an experienced, enthusiastic individual who is
hands-on, self-motivated and meets the following:

· B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering 
· 7+ years of experience in design, development, and bring up of
  boards related to digital video
· A solid working knowledge of digital video standards and systems
  o Understanding of NTSC, PAL, 656/601 interfaces, and related A/V 
    clock issues
  o Working knowledge and ability to select common industry standard  
    related to digital video and audio components
  o Working knowledge of MPEG compression from a system level 
    perspective
· Self sufficient to set up and use industry standard board design
  tools (most important ORCAD)
  o Ability to create support packages (schematics, gerbers, design  
    files, etc.)
· Ability to research, select, and source all components related to 
  reference design
  o Research and create volume BOM costs
  o Perform competitive tear downs and summarize results
· Ability to perform initial board/system bring-up, and debug problems
  o Expert with common lab tools such as logic analyzers and
    oscilloscopes
  o Sufficient software skills related to loading firmware, I2C
    programming, etc.
· Good communication skills, both verbal and writing
· Ability to multitask over multiple projects
