Scott - Can you grab me a cold one while you're up? I've just made a fresh batch of popcorn: All - It's not what you say, it's how you say it. Bigotry and racism have to be constantly monitored so that they don't escape their cage. It's an idea woven into the fabric of U.S. political thought when our nation was born. Are we good at it? Not very. But we're better than most. When you encounter it, protest it and defeat it. Check yourself out. Make sure you're not one. I contend that political issues have no place on SI List. I find that very refreshing, a sanctum from the madness. If you want to be politically active, use venues devoted to that. I certainly do. E-mail your congressperson and ask their position on outsourcing, form watchdog committees, actually use the politcal system as opposed to complain about it. Setting up an "SI-LIST-POLITICS mailing list" would be a good example of a watchdog service. However, on SI List, post a link, not an opinion. A robust exchange of *technical* ideas is the very cornerstone of the List. Sometimes tempers flare. That is to be expected, but it is the exception not the rule. Behave like a gentleman. Be academic about all issues discussed on the List. Keep personally derisive and/or political comments off-line. Got that beer yet? But there are those that would rather blame their troubles on someone else. The argument goes something like: Those damn... fill in the blank of your favorite immigrant ... are ... fill in whatever fear you have. There is a long list of immigrants to blame our troubles on. Get over it or fix it. But stop complaining about it on the SI-LIST. In America immigrant are welcome by anyone that takes the time to remember our history. Personally my mother and Grandparents came from Scotland when my mother was a teen. So am I an immigrant taking an American's job or am I an American? Please don't answer that. What I do know is that we need to outsource some Layout in Expedition and SI work for a new design. We don't care if you are from Bulgaria or India or Indiana. You just need to know SI and help us adapt SI technology to be used in an automobile. And yes you will be in a competitive competition for the work.=20 We are putting multiple 500 MHz processors with DDR2 memories into an automobile as part of an Active Safety System. Please contact me privately if you have the skills. But don't contact me if you want to learn on my dime. I just interviewed an Indian company that had a great sales pitch and no technical ability to back it up. It was a waste of my time.
