Gaurav, it depends

There are any number of good books on SMPS converters out there, and plenty
of material available from raw material vendors, as well as assembled
inductor mfg's.

What is "best" is a compromise of a number of factors, including: cost,
size, and efficiency. Forward converters tend to use MnZn ferrites in any
of a number of forms for the transformer, while flybacks, and SEPIC
transformers and foward converter output chokes will need either a gapped
ferrite or for lower frequency application powdered Fe that can support a
large H. Toroids tend to have the best efficiency and size, but highest
cost. Most modern production switchers use either a toroid ( encapsulated
supplies ) or more often now planar magnetics.
