My father brought a GSD home with him when he returned from WWII, so they have been a part of life from the time I was very young. My first important purchase after I established my own home, was buying a GSD. I joined the club back in the mid/late 70's. After dropping membership in the club, I rejoined in 1981. It never entered my mind as to what the GSDCA could "give" to me. I wanted to be a part of this breed and it's promotion, protection and well-being. Ofcourse, over the years I have recieved so very many benefits from belonging to this organization, as well as the feeling that in some small way, I am supporting and helping the breed! I look at the three shepherds that are lying on the floor as I type this & really feel that they repay daily all love and support that I can give to them & their "kind". Sometimes, the best benefit we can recieve is the feeling of belonging and helping. Why would someone ask "what can it do for me?"
