I 100% agree Lucy and Kathy.

I worked for a GSD breeder up here in Canada and the time alone was 1 hour
for both of us to clean JUST in the am. In the pm it was another hour. There
were 30-40 adult canines, and then the pups......

No way can it be done with the emotional needs of ALL the dogs being kept
mentally intact. No way, no how.You simply can not tend to that many dogs.
Excuses and more excuses. Crap, I just thought about the ill ones....no way can
it be done properly.

I agree with Sherry, I have lived outside the city since I started in dogs
many years ago. As to the question about space for individual dogs, the
USDA
does have a formula for that. I am sorry but I do not think that just
because I
love my dogs and want to breed, train and show them my neighbors should have
to live with it.
That is why my neighbor who likes to hunt lives out here. He can target
practice and not worry about complaints. If you want to have animals you
need to
live out in the country with land for them to live on. That is just my
opinion.

Not just your opinion Lucy, just plain common sense, respect and courtesy to
the neighbors and care and concern for the welfare of the dogs.

2 people (with outside jobs) an hour a day to "care for" the dogs? Feed,
scoop, hose down, scrub buckets and food bowls??? It would take 2 people more
than that amount of time to do ears, nails, teeth on a regular basis for 32+
dogs...and that's adults, I'm sure there were litters. No one has mentioned
grooming. It can take an hour to groom ONE sheltie!

For years I used to close my eyes and ignore such nonsense; now with
legislation at every turn because folks just can't exercise basic common
sense....well, something has to be said. It's cases like the above that force
legislation. And "quality time"???? Give me a break. Letting them out a few at
a
time in a play yard for an hour or so or (goodness!) having them come in the
house and lay around for a few hours while you do something else...quality
time???? FOR 32+????? I'm sorry Ginger, but since you brought it up, will all
due respect, (have I put enough qualifiers in there? ), my definition of
quality and yours are MILES apart. (I'm not suggesting legislating "quality;
that would be impossible to do, just responding to something previously
expressed.)

One of the hardest things in dogs is NOT becoming over-dogged.

I'm with Sherry. I moved to a more rural area and made a show place for the
dogs. STILL, I keep the numbers down because I DO things with them, not
just warehouse them. (I want a few good ones, not a few dozen I'm not doing
anything with! They'd be better of being placed and being the center of a
family's world...or am I the only one who thinks that way????)

And...while not everyone has the time (and money!) or inclination to do
things the way I want things done for my dogs, 32+ dogs on 3/4 of an acre in a
city is nonsense and defending it is just more nonsense.

Have a nice Christmas all...off to enjoy my family WITH a dog freshly bathed
and groomed for the holidays. I know handfuls of hair will be yanked out
and will end up all over my 19 month old nephew and I want it at least to be
scrupulously clean hair! (I spent more than a hour yesterday bathing/grooming 2
dogs, lol!)

GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG BREED BETTERMENT REGISTRY

The only way to understand & estimate the nature of the dog is to study his
whole development. Such a task requires a sympathetic, dog-loving observer, who
tries as far as possible to enter into the innermost mind of the dog, and who
will know how to short-circuit all his purely human points of view. --Max von
