Just sent you a private message, but will add some advice to the list.
Remember.....pups at the right temperature
are usually quiet, cool pups will be noisy. A warm pup would literally starve
to death without
making a sound.......better be sure they are warm enough.

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Final Whelp Update and Post Whelp suggestions
It was a long, stressful whelp for my first litter. Luckily, an experienced
German breeder walked me through all the moments leading up to the whelp. So
grateful for her support…especially tolerating all of my "does this mean she is
close questions”! My bitch began to whelp at 1:34 p.m. yesterday and concluded
at 7:42 a.m. today. My biggest fear of whelping a 5 1/2 year old bitch came
true. Through the adamant urging of an experienced GSDCA breeder, I rushed her
to the ER at the onset. I might have lost my bitch and pups otherwise and will
be eternally grateful to her. We left the ER at 11:44 p.m. last night with 6
live puppies. Then, we lost a stillborn girl at home. She gave birth to another
girl which we are retaining. Then, a stillborn male at 7:42. Very sad but as a
horse breeder, you learn to accept the unfortunate moments in breeding. She is
an AMAZING Mother and has 7 very loud puppies (2 of which we are keeping to
show…future PAM candidates!). Who knew that newborn puppies were SOOOO
loud…geesh!!!
Thank you to all those that sent private messages. The depth, experience, and
kindness of some members on this list never fails to amaze me……
Any post-whelp suggestions would also be much appreciated! I’m finally off to
shower and get some rest.
