Avid has a 1x fee for an account that has up to 5 dogs, it's been a while,
I'm thinking $25. When you add a dog there is a minimal fee ($2?) paid
when you add the dog, not yearly. It probably depends on the company and how
you buy your chips (direct or through another party). I buy mine direct.

The reason that I PI my dogs is in case they ever get lost/loose
(hopefully never), there is a way to ID them. All shelters in my area,
scan dogs
that come in so I feel better knowing that they have a way to contact me.
