Carolyn, you said it perfectly and I wondered the same thing! I find all kinds
of things in their water, and that's after they stick their feet in it and
literally take a bath, etc. Too funny! Same experience here on the east
coast! even when I'm walking the water out of the kennel to change it, they
are drinking it as I'm carrying the buckets! We have a lot of red clay here in
GA, and the more they have of it on themselves, the happier they are! I give
up and am just glad they are happy with what they have! Cheryl

Sometimes I wonder why we even bother to make sure the dogs get fresh clean
water
in their water buckets.
Left to their own they seem to prefer 'swamp water'. We've been outside
all day working
in the yard ( as usual we are way behind ) ..........sigh... We always
have a couple of dogs
out with us...and TO A DOG....they will bypass their clean water and go to
the bird baths that
have not been cleaned yet....and drink out of those. We have puppies that
do the same thing.
The pups just seem to know to stand on their hind legs as soon as they can
reach.. to get the
luscious old water in the bird baths. When clean they STILL prefer the
bird bath water...and
they get it dirty getting their paws in it.....and it becomes the beloved
'swamp water' they
seem to love.
SO......WHY do we fuss and worry about fresh clean water when they prefer
good old
'swamp water' anyway? <G> 1/2 hr. after I scrub their buckets and fill
them with fresh
clean water they have a bone or a rock or a stick dropped in it to brew
their own swamp water.
I'm going to change my puppy packets to read......purchase a bird bath and
fill with water and
allow to 'percolate' till it is off color and keep available for your dog
at all times! <G>
