Because if they have a black nose (extremely rare ), they are a serious fault.
If they do
not have a black nose, they are a DQ.

And, here is another issue with the AKC GSD approved Breed Standard:
. "Strong rich colors are preferred. Pale, washed-out colors and blues or
livers are serious faults."
So, if blues and livers are DQed because of the black pigment issue, how can
they be a serious fault under color?

And, I am sure they can find judges to put them up, if the dog is structually
the best in the ring.
They're technically DQ based on color (if you're not talking about Pandas)
since it is genetically impossible for a blue or liver dog to express black
pigment
