Yes, calcium is needed, but generally anyway for a growing pup -- However,
all of the
research on this mess has come up with the biggest culprit as selinium
deficiency. I do
know Scootie Sherlock had a good recipe to handle it. The age, size and
situation is
important for the time needed to correct the situation. Cutting back on
protein also does
help. It's, in my humble opinion ---- something in certain lines --- no
no I do NOT
want t start a pie throwing contest that seems to crop up on this list once
in a while, but
I'm only talking of experience etc. Hope all gets Ok with this pup Norma no

Long ago I was told to put them on calcium and they would come right up . I
had a litter back in the 70's that was down in their pasterns I put them on
Calcium and they were back to normal in a couple of days. I had it happen a
couple more time to individual dogs and did the same, with the same results
. ???
I have read the topic of down pasterns several times on the list and never
seen calcium mentioned, so I wonder if I am missing something that has come
up about it when I wasn't paying attention , If so I would like to be
brought up to date on it.
