[ SHOWGSD-L ] breeding question

I was reading an article on breeding today, and it stated that breeders 
should know which faults in the breed are hard to eradicate, and which ones can 
be fixed in one generation?
Does anyone have any comments on faults that are very hard to fix, and those 
that can be fixed/bred for in one or two generations.
