I'll use these two posts also to make a small point.........<G> The DIFFERENCE of course is that the Judges are choosing to put those dogs with functional faults UP. THAT......... is not a MANDATE from our Parent Club to be accepted and rewarded. BIG difference!! To utilize that as an argument for mandating that German Shepherd Dogs with any disqualifying fault can win the HIGHEST AWARD at our annual National is just moving the Breed into another problem that will take forever to resolve. Instead of sticking with trying to solve a simple problem we are taking a huge step backwards. Hope some of you took the time to peruse this web site. AND we all know we have seen even worse as AKC Reg. German Shepherd Dogs. This is just on color......think about what else could happen with jaws, ears, etc. Are you SURE this is what you want the general public to see as the TOP HONORS at our National. THIS is why it was disqualified. Not because a white dog is horrible.....but because of what people do with it. Check out this web site. http://www.pandashepherds.com/photo_gallery We are talking about the German Shepherd Dog Club Of America, Inc. giving one of it's HIGHEST AWARDS to any dog that is AKC Reg. as a German Shepherd Dog!!! No matter how much we all admire the white GSD and how nice the owner breeders are....it will only work to this end in many cases. THEY are better off with separation also for the sake of their own hard work than to end up like this. IMO. Now who's "fault" is this? It's certainly not exclusively the breeder's fault. If judges refused to reward dogs with *serious* faults of movement or rotten temperaments, do you think that any breeder, in his right mind, would c ontinue to breed dogs with these faults? I doubt it. Who *purposely* sets out to breed "losers?" BTW, please pardon my using Kathy's post, regarding Whites, to segue into another subject; I just felt the need to do so. PaulETTE McGuirt, GSDCA Member From: "Kathy Tank" <rbuffdogs@xxxxxxxxx> Some people breed for the excessive , faulty sidegait, I am sure nobody breeds for missing teeth, intentionally, lolThe point is, some very serious faults are often rewarded at even our highest level .. our Nationals..whether intentionally bred for , or not. So when you see a dog that drags its insteps and looks like a "can of worms " going away, our runs downhill to the point of pounding..where is the outrage then? Maybe we shouldstart simple, with the problems some of the supposedly "more acceptable " colors already have?
