A friend of mine just had a bitch lose her litter of seven pups at 43 days, needless to say this was way to early to have any survive. She had a healthy litter before, but I recommended to have a brucellosis test done anyway, it was negetive. I also suggested to do a vaginal culture, but the vet wanted to wait, so she is waiting a week to have it done. The owner of the bitch also had a virus run thru her kennel, and this female also got the virus was feeling sick for three days, could this have caused her to abort her litter? Could she also have had a drop in her progesterone level at the 43 day mark and lost her pups. Since I have never had this happen, I was wondering what the lists thoughts were on this subject.
