[ SHOWGSD-L ] Volunteer vs. paid

I have also watched with interest the discussions on this list about  
positions held within the organization of the GSDCA.  You have volunteers,  and 
you 
have a paid position (I am guessing there might be more, only one is  being 
discussed here).  
 
With all the pettiness, how do you expect to get others to want to  
volunteer?  I am also supposing it is just a small few who are stirring the  
pot, but 
don't you think that all this "critical review" would discourage  someone from 
stepping up to the plate and saying "I can help you with  that".  Good grief, 
we don't live under microscopes!
 
I have never held a position during my entire working life, that it did not  
morf into additional responsibilities, mind you for the most part with little 
or  no pay increase to go along with it.  Had I gotten this type of critical  
review or negative feedback, I would have launched on a campaign to find 
another  position.  
 
I currently have the GSDCA Office, and I am pleased to do my part, as a  
volunteer, to help.  I am usually willing to listen to the suggestions of  
others, 
and offer suggestions to help expedite things in a swift manner and be  
mindful of the costs to the club, after all it is other peoples money!
 
You have people from all over this country with the common ground, they  love 
this breed, they want everyone to admire and love our breed, they want what  
is best for our breed, and to be fair to everyone.  I think we should be  
mindful and broad/open minded and understand we all have the same goals.   
Different ideas bring about change, if we don't accept change, we fail to  
grow.  
 
Just my opinion, now what can you do to help?
