I'm so sorry to read about the loss of the beagle puppy and the illness of the other! Did the vets run a PCR test for lepto? Acute kidney failure is one of the symptoms. It kills younger dogs much more quickly than older ones. Often, by the time the owner notices anything is wrong, it is too late to save the dog. Having just gone through a lepto crisis at my house, I'm all too familiar with this issue. Another note: GSDs seem to be especially susceptible to lepto, so it's good for everyone to be aware of the symptoms: * unexplained fever * increased thirst and urination * lumbar (back) pain or if the dog is diagnosed with: * kidney failure * liver failure * uveitis (inflammation of the eye) Good luck to all involved with this -- whatever it is, it sounds horrid! - Cheryl May __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
