Carolyn is certainly right on.;however,y there is a vast difference in
specialty judges and all breed
judges today more than ever before. In the past, I have been happy to see
shepherd breeders
showing their good dogs in the AB ring. Not any more. NBow I advocate keeping
your GOOD ones
out of the AB ring. With entries down so badly, the AB clubs are having t
hire judges who
can adjudicate three or more groups. I'm not saying all of them are bad, but
most of them came
through the ranks without a clue about our breed. Thus they judge on a
generic level or even a
familiar-face-handler level. In the past couple of years, I have seen the most
shameful judging
imaginable, winners to a dog with a hanging ear, to a bitch with her tail
velcroed to her abdomen,
while the really good one goes unnoticed. One judge faulted the best dog in
the ring because
of his"over-reach". duyh !
