Don Killee taught me about producers. In my youth at a local show, I had
my Review ringside and I was impressed with my first ROM dog issue. I came
to the one top dog and remarked, "He must be a good producer, look at all
those champions!" Don said, "Turn the page, the next dog is your real
producer". It was a unfinished dog who had only 15 or so champions. I asked
him why is this dog a producer over the one with all the champions. He told
me to look closely. The unfinished dog had 2-3 champions for only 3-4 dams
while the "impressive" dog didnt have a single repeating dam in the list of
champions. That always stuck with me. As a junior, Id find him outside the
ring watching and giving me tips. He was a funny guy.

Don said he lost the eye to a sharp stick and the teeth trying to take
out the chain link fence.
Other than that, he was a good looking dog.
