Oh yes, they know. It's in the air. You can also see this behavior when a
strong storm or tornado are in the making. I believe it's the air pressure
that warns them of strange phenomena. And yes, we should pay more attention
to our dogs' behavior when it is out of the ordinary.

These dogs, GSDs ...continue to astound me, really.
Yesterday around 6:30 or 7 pm, Ken and I sat out on the patio, and I decided
to move some dogs
in/out of the yard or kennel.
I took the Joe daughter, Siren to a run and she utterly refused to go
through the gate. I had to bodily put her in the
run. She was genuinely worried about being in there. Not at all usual for
her. I looked, nothing out of the ordinary,
except she seem to say.."ok Mom, get me OUTTA here" as she stood up on the
gate. weird.
Then the Joe son "Truimph" 18 wks, who is a boisterous, stubborn, funny
puppy (a lot like Grandpa Nitro, lol)
and he stopped at the opening to the run and HAIRED UP...."nope not going
in". I persuaded him and looked around to
see if there was anything that could cause such an odd reaction? Nothing
As Ken and I sat admiring the "kids" we noticed the Nitro dtr "Spicey" was
no where to be seen?
Usually she is prancing and cavorting and standing on hind limbs until we
notice her, lolol.
I called her. nothing. Called again, nope, no Spicey...I started walking
and she came out of her igloo
looked at me and immediately returned to it.....weird! Ken even went over
to make sure there wasn't a young rattler coming to visit...
nope , nothing.
As we sat about an hour later at the PC looking at videos....there was a
loud rumble, and a few moderate shakes...
Hunter bolted from the tub, lolol....and I said "stay put!"
But the dogs knew. Amazing. You can bet we will take more careful note of
odd behavior from the group, next time!!
As soon as the little shaker was over, all was right with the world and the
dogs returned to their normal , silly selves.
