There is some romance in this, and I don't disagree.
However, when the club has a surplus of funds, they can and should support
other avenues of our great breed. I didn't object to all the money the
GSDCA paid to send the WDA team to Germany, to show imported dogs and wear
GSDCA jackets.
But, when we are being told we have to "suck it up" and keep going to St.
Louis because the club has to build the treasury, it might be a better idea
to stop the excessive spending rather than try to increase the funds by
making it more difficult to show at the National.
Some one who has some extra time should list the board members who either
can drive to the National in a day or less, or don't show dogs at the Big
Show. I glanced at the current board members, and was startled to see what
it indicates.

I still say, sorry, they need to operate on their own, step up to the
plate, find where they are going wrong and fix it...quit looking up to big
brother to fund it. Also, if they don't support their own trophies..too bad,

The WDS "department" and the SV style showing "department" ARE parts of
the GSDCA, same as the AKC conformation "department" and herding "department"
are.
The GSDCA-WDA was a separate organization-- and I'm sure is the source of
confusion. I imagine that being part of the club is why the GSDCA is
paying for the events. (Even though they ought to be making money, or at least
breaking even IMHO)
I suppose the new arrangement is a more acceptable reason as to why the
GSDCA is providing the funding, rather than financially backing the world
trials that the WDA put on! (I'm sorry, but whoever made that deal that cost
the club over $100K knowing it would more than likely operate as a loss,
well,....)

I'd just like to point out that the SV per se is NOT "having a show in
America." Clubs in America put on SV sanctioned shows where FCI (Fédération
Cynologique Internationale) rules governing IPO (sport Schutzhund) titles
are observed. I think the terminology is confusing some people. Very easy
to happen with this stuff.

We have some judges here in America, (I think Helen Gleason our National
Specials Judge is qualified, and I think Dr. Goldberg), and there is no reason
why the GSDCA has to carry that load, until we have enough reserves.
I do support the total dog. I even like the St. Louis arena. I can
appreciate all the board does, but there should be some balance.
If the members of the GSDCA are asked to sacrifice something, not
supporting the SV having a show in America might be a more rational demand.
