Ginger Cleary - Rome, GA www.rihadin.com <http://www.rihadin.com> "Laws against something 'that other guy' does will eventually get US because we are all someone's 'other guy.' " Walt Hutchens,2007 -----Original Message----- TX-RPOA E-News From Responsible Pet Owners Alliance, the reasonable voice regarding animal issues in Texas. Responsible Pet Owners Alliance is an animal welfare organization, not "animal rights" and, yes, there is a difference. Permission granted to crosspost. HB 1355 was NOT voted on last night and is on the Calendar for today, Tuesday, April 24th! It's not over 'til it's over ... as Yogi said. Your calls ARE making a difference because the bill was scheduled to be #8 on the agenda yesterday and we got it moved to 27th which meant it did NOT get heard at all yesterday. Keep up the good work. If you called yesterday, call back again today and inquire about whether the bill passed, if it is scheduled today, and anything just to take up their time in the legislator's office. We're asking for amendments and can win this if you help. Read the message below from Zandra Anderson, Houston attorney and American Pit Bull Terrier owner, who is representing RPOA along with Jeff Shaver with the American Rottweiler Club. Jeff does Search & Rescue with his Rotties. Without these two on our side, we could not have come this far but we can't do this alone. We need you! You, as a Texas dog owner, must live with these new laws being proposed for years to come. If you do nothing, don't moan to us when they are enforced! As all experienced dog owners well know, if two dogs get "into it" while out walking your dog on a leash or at a dog show, someone could receive a serious dog bite requiring stitches while separating the dogs. You could become a convicted felon and serve jail time with rapists and murderers. Is this acceptable to you? ________________________________________ Message from Zandra: HB 1355 NOT VOTED ON YET!! STILL TIME TO WRITE/CALL! As of 10:15 tonight, the calendar was posted for tomorrow, Tuesday, April 24, 2007. HB 1355 was not reached on Monday, so we still have time to keep those FAXES and CALLS coming! We need more!!! Make your voice heard for the sake of dog owners and our dogs!!! Be sure to contact your Texas Representative. We will focus on the Senate later!! Once you find your Representative, go to their main web page for their FAX number. There are a few of them who fail to put their fax number on their website, so you might have to call. Keep the momentum GOING!!! Our voices DO make a difference--promise.
