When I was campaigning my Lily back 15 some years ago who was 22.5 & would
show next to bitches that were way over the standard and make Lily look like
a Mini standing next to them. I even had some judges tell me she was too
small for the breed. And I would tell them her height. Nothing would be said
& they ignored my comments. Then I had a breed judge tell me one time that
Lily was TOO SMALL to be a herding dog. I didn't get it??? She was
fast/agile with excellent feet. Were those bad judges?! And then the next
time I would win a 5 pt major/WB. But there were times people would say,
"She's so little!" And I would say, "No your bitch is too large!"

I remember seeing a sweet bitch and asking how old she was, thought
she was a teenager. Nope, 22.5 inches. Standard for bitches 22-24,
males 24-26. I couldn't believe the little bitch was in the standard,
she looked like a mini GSD because I was so used to what I was
seeing. I thought Moxie was small and I had just started out with
Moxie, so ran home and measured her, 24 inches.
How did our GSDs get so big? And why?
