I think front movement especially, is a lot harder to understand and see than
most people realize. Correct me if I'm wrong... but when a dogs front paw
touched the ground, most will touch directly below the head. Either below the
nose... or below the jaw bone... etc. Good movement is directly below the
nose, or even slightly past.... average to poor movement is by the jawbone or
behind.

Thats only a difference of what? Inches? Now take a dog in full motion
running 7 miles an hour around a ring.... trying to see its foot steps and
evaluate on a difference of a few inches... isnt easy. We're talking fractions
of a second that you have to see that moment of contact in full stride.

It makes SUCH A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE when you play a tape on slow motion. It
will TRULY make you take a second look at the movement of dogs who otherwise
give the appearance of good movement.

What is even more amazing is that the crowd often applauds wildly at a lifty
front, as though they don't care or perhaps know about correct, balanced
movement , only flashy movement. Correct foot timing is not flashy but it is a
thing of beauty to see, and when you do see it, you will never again accept
less. It will be interesting to see how some of the "lifters" are received
this year. Of course as with all things there are degrees, but when the dog is
waving at the crowd, and the crowd still applauds it...I have to wonder if
those people have ever seen a TRULY correct moving animal?
