"Santa Fe County has historically been one of the highest areas for plague," said Fabian Chavez, head of City of Santa Fe Parks and Recreation. Chavez said Parks and Recreation workers are one of the first lines of defense against plague. Workers report any dead animals that have not been hit by cars or some kind of trauma.
