You are right. We are now offering the Schutzhund
trials as part of the GSDCA and a few of our
leaders are using the term SV to describe it. It
is our venue under SV authorization. I think we
are mixing venues as AKC sanctions our shows but
for the Schutzhund trial portion, the SV also
sanctions us and honors the titles since we are,
as a club, a member of the SV.
Where we lost the money was when the SV world
trials came to the USA and we stood good for them.
It was one big SV event drawing people from around
the world and we stepped up to coordinate it. Big
loss, big mistake. But now we are including the
USA trials within our national at the same time,
as I understand it. So the discussion is
convoluted in that we are talking about one world
event that was a loser and the ongoing GSDCA
accommodation of the trials that would have been
held by the WDA.
I suppose you have to know the history to make the
distinctions -
SV - world registry for GSD's - an organization
for shows, trials.
GSDCA - American parent to AKC - who did not
permit bite work.
GSDCA - WDA, the arm of GSDCA doing SV style
trials.
AKC - Changed their mind and now allows bite work.
WDA - goes their own way divorcing GSDCA.
GSDCA welcomes WDA former members and provides SV
events under our auspices.
WDA - tries to go it alone - not sure what is
happening with them.
SV - Officially still the world GSD club, but we
have also, without much forethought, borrowed the
term(SV) to describe our inclusion of the bite
word at our Nationals.
Phewh! This is complicated. It is not the SV
organizations putting on our show. They just issue
the titles - I think that is how it works.
We lost money on the one big world-wide show. We
should not have acted as treasure for them, and
I'll bet we don't do that again.
Now will someone who knows better step in and
straighten me out and make me look as foolish as I
really am????

Now granted I'm over a month behind in emails am I
reading that people think the SV style shows are
actually the SV? They are not. This is the GSDCA
using the venue that has been in place for a long
time to allow people to show under those auspices.
It goes too far back to get into the details but
the GSDCA is providing a service for those who
left WDA and want to show in that style of venue.
But it is NOT the SV.
And does this mean there is a line item accounting
showing exactly what it cost? Sieger shows used to
be very good money makers so I'm pretty surprised
to see the comments about how much the SS is
losing. I'm trying to figure out what is fact and
what is perception.
