I certainly don't mean to pick on this post, but this is an argument I
have made for years.
The Review is the club publication. No club tries to make their magazine a
profit center, but we have. It is a false premise.
The Review should be a service magazine for the members. Every cent that is
paid for an ad, or any money that comes in from the Review goes to the
GSDCA. So, if you want to show a profit, put in a bunch or articles, (hell,
I'll write three or four every month), have the GSDCA pay for the pages,
and
the magazine will show a profit. Then, as we do now, the money that comes
in to pay for the articles will be transfered to the GSDCA, as it is now,
and everyone can be happy.
We need to accept the Review as the club's newletter. We are a club, we
are not a business.
While I do support running the GSDCA as a business, we also have to
remember our purpose. It is not to make a profit for the stockholders. The
Review does not have to be a profit center, it should be a service to the
membership. Which it is now.
Susan does a great job.
This week we have been blasted for a missing handle on the trophy, how
tough a dog should be, and using the AKC title of AOE on a dog that won
it.
It must be a slow news week.
Let's get back to important stuff like what to do with those nasty white
shepherd people. I say, take away their right to an education, give them
separate but equal schools, stop them from voting and take them off the
road.
They can ride with a licensed driver who owns black and tan shepherds. Or
even blacks.
